Cubans honor anniversary of Che Guevara's death

NBC News — Cubans monday honored revolutionary icon Ernesto "Che" Guevara, who was captured and executed in Bolivia 45 years go. Cubans gathered at a mausoleum in Santa Clara where Guevara's remains were placed after they were exhumed in Bolivia in 1967. Che is revered in Cuba, remembered for promoting unpaid volunteer work by toiling on building sites or working in sugar cane fields.
An image of Che cutting sugar cane still appears on currency. He remains a popular symbol across Latin America and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez cites him as an influence. Che's daughter said Chavez's re-election victory was also a win for her father's legacy.
