CNN — Florida A&M marching band drummer Robert Champion is now being blamed for his own death.
He died back in November, after being badly beaten on a band bus after a football game in Orlando, in an apparent hazing incident.
Reports say that the university is blaming Champion for his own death. Florida A&M attorneys say Champion should have refused to participate in the hazing, and reported it to police or the university.
It comes as the school defends itself from a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Champion's parents.
Southern University will play FAMU on next Saturday during the Atlanta Classic.
