As the David family of Lilburn, Georgia fills each bag with gravel and a candle for luminaries to line their yard they know that something is missing.

"We were especially disappointed that a week away from Christmas and we're doing the luminaries it's going to be an eyesore," said Ritu David.

Amid all of their Christmas decorations is a giant sign displaying a bible verse and a gaping hole.

"The sign is missing two very important words: Jesus said," David said.

Sometime at night vandals took a knife to the sign and cut out the family's reason for the season.

But if they were hoping to make some sort of statement or make this family mad, it didn't work and in fact it's had the opposite effect.

The Davids say the first thing they did when they found the vandalism is gather their three sons and say a prayer for the person.

As for those concerns about the sign being an eyesore, they learned they won't have to look at it very long.

A family driving by stopped and offered to pay for a brand new sign.

I was under the impression that we had freedom of religion in this country. If the family wants to display the name of Jesus in their front yard, they should be able to do that without the fear of vandalism. What a shame.
