Captain of capsized Italian cruise ship taken to court
NBC News — The captain of the sinking cruise ship off the coast of Italy is in court tuesday. Captain Francesco Schettino faces manslaughter charges for the accident.
He is also accused of abandoning ship, prosecutors say he refused to go back on board when requested by the coast guard. The company that owns the stricken cruise ship monday accused the captain of causing friday's disaster by veering the ship too close to shore.
