Cantaloupes contaminated with Listeria kill another three people in the U.S. The death toll is now at 18, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

They say at least 100 cases of Listeria infections have been reported in 20 states. That's just the number of confirmed cases.

A woman in Baton Rouge died over the weekend from a Listeria infection. Her family says she had eaten cantaloupe just weeks before, but that case is not included in the CDC’s latest report, just out Tuesday.

It could take a week before we know if her death can be traced back to this outbreak.

Listeria can remain dormant in the blood for up to two months before making the infected person sick.
