Camp Echo troops prepare to leave Iraq
NBC News — U.S. troops at Camp Echo are packing up and getting ready to leave Iraq. Nearly nine years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Camp Echo is one of the last seven U.S. military bases in the country.
Private contract caterers have gone home and murals depicting the September 11th attacks have been painted over. President Obama plans to withdraw the remaining 13,000 troops from Iraq by he end of the year. Camp Echo is located in Diwaniya, about 95 miles south of the capital Baghdad.
