ENTERTAINMENT NEWS (CNN) — Promotional tours for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" should be interesting, considering that lead actors Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are in the midst of personal drama.
But the film's director, Bill Condon, is hoping that everyone will put aside their private turmoil and remember that these two are trying to focus on doing their jobs.
"The fact is, these are actors playing parts," Bill Condon told Entertainment Weekly in its latest issue. "Maybe it's not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that."
Condon also directed Stewart and Pattinson in the previous film, "Breaking Dawn - Part 1," and he tells the magazine that the two deserve some respect when it comes to their off-camera lives.
"Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the 'Twilight' movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon," Condon added. "Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it's time that some of that respect be returned to them."
Summit Entertainment previously indicated to EW that the studio is "moving full steam ahead" with its promotion of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," and so is Pattinson, for that matter.
The actor stars in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis," which opens in limited release this month, and plans to adhere to his red carpet schedule in addition to lining up interviews - Pattinson's scheduled to appear on "Good Morning America" August 15.
His film with Stewart, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," opens November 16.
