NBC News — Anti government protests continue in Syria. Special protests were held across the country to mark President Bashar Al-Assad's birthday. Demonstrators burned cakes and photos of the Syrian leader.
Meanwhile, the United Nations reported monday that at least 2600 people have been killed in Syria since pro-democracy protests broke out in March. The figures are almost twice the size of the Syrian government's official estimate.
