NBC News — Afghans are calling for the U.S. soldier accused of shooting dead 16 Afghan civilians to be tried in their country. Overnight, the U.S. flew the staff sergeant out of Afghanistan to a detention center in Kuwait.
The soldier reportedly gave himself up after his shooting rampage in Kandahar on sunday. Afghan President Hamid Karzai's office reportedly accepted the move, in return for a trial in a U.S. court the Afghan government requested that the trial be transparent and open to the media.
