Afghan president orders investigation of NATO airstrike
NBC News — Afghan President Hamid Karzai has ordered an investigation into the death of civilians in a recent airstrike by NATO forces. Afghan officials are accusing NATO of killing a number of children in the strike. The NATO led coalition did not immediately confirm the deaths in the incident.
The head of the investigation team, a member of Afghanistan's parliament, said young children were killed. NATO says they are also investigating the incident. Civilian deaths have been one of the biggest sources of friction between the Afghan government and NATO ahead of a withdrawal of foreign combat troops in 2014.
