NBC News — Afghan President Hamid Karzai said thursday that his government was pressing for an end to controversial night raids by NATO forces. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of several hundred army officers, Karzai said the raids violated Afghanistan's sovereignty.
He also said that the U.S. was trying to negotiate an accord for a troop presence in the country beyond a 2014 deadline for most NATO combat forces to withdraw. NATO is expected to take up the issue at an upcoming meeting in Chicago in late May.
