NBC NATIONAL NEWS — A Connecticut man claims he was sleepwalking when he pulled out a knife and tried to take a woman's purse in a casino elevator.
Police later arrested Winston Riley of Bridgeport for the crime.
Court papers reveal Riley admitted to police he did pull a knife on the woman.
"He said that he did not know why he did it. He had a momentary lapse of judgment," according to the report.
Riley has sleepwalked before, according to his lawyer, who hopes he can use Riley's medical history to convince a courtroom he woke up only when the woman tried to stop him from taking her purse.
He has no previous criminal record.
