HAMILTON, MONTANA - A Darby man has been arrested for making threats against President Barack Obama.
Dan Rachell, 43, was arrested last week on two charges of making threats against President Obama and his family.
The arrest comes after a former co-worker and veteran at the Vally Veterans Service Center in Hamilton contacted the U.S. Secret Service about plans he heard Rachell making to kill the President.
Court documents state that the veteran told authorities he believed Rachell was suffering from PTSD, and that it was getting worse, and would lead to him becoming a credible threat.
The veteran also reported that Rachell made a threat to kill him, had a stockpile of weapons, and trained his wife to help with an assasination attempt.
Rachelle was involuntarily committed to a mental health center as a result of the investigation, and it was determined that Rachell was suffering from PTSD and major depression.
Rachell has denied making any threats toward the President.
The veterans center was shut down for two days while during the investigation, and has since reopened.
