Answering the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank’s call for donations, L’Auberge Baton Rouge Hotel & Casino today donated $5,000 to help fill the emptying shelves of the food bank’s warehouse.

“All of us at L’Auberge Baton Rouge and Pinnacle strongly believe in being active participants in our communities,” Mickey Parenton, Vice President and General Manger of L’Auberge Baton Rouge, said. “We believe the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank is a great organization and are happy to support them in their mission to fight hunger. “

The $5,000 donation from L’Auberge Baton Rouge will provide approximately 35,000 meals to people in need across the 11 parishes that the food bank serves. In 2010, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank distributed over 11.1 million pounds of food.

“We appreciate L’Auberge Baton Rouge for their efforts to help in the fight against hunger in our community,” Erin Swenson, Vice President of Public Relations and Communications of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, said.

When it opens in 2012, L’Auberge Baton Rouge will feature an expansive single-level, 74,000 square foot casino; nearly 1,500 slot machines; 51 table games, including a poker room; a 12-story hotel with 206 guest rooms and a rooftop pool; three dining outlets; a unique casino bar with breathtaking views of the Mississippi River; 2,400 total parking spaces, including 800 in a covered parking garage; a multi-purpose event center with concert seating for up to 1,600 people or banquet seating for up to 800 people; and outdoor festival grounds with capacity for up to 2,500.
