NBC NEWS — It's going to cost you a little bit more to deck the halls this holiday season.

The White House is imposing a 15-cent tax on Christmas trees.

Government officials say the tax will charge producer and importers of the trees, if they sell more than 500 a year.

The tax is to pay for a new government board tasked with promoting the Christmas tree industry. The Federal Register says the new panel will launch programs to research and strengthen the industry.
