$400 million awarded to parishes affected by Hurricane Katrina
Louisiana (NBC33) — GOHSEP announced today that almost $400 million in grant money was distributed to parishes impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
The money, from the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, was awarded to the state this week.
The amount of money parishes received was dictated by the amount of damage Katrina caused to that parish.
Almost $250 million went to Orleans Parish, which was the hardest hit by Katrina. Plaquemines Parish received $31 million.
Not everyone got millions of dollars: Tanigpahoa and Terrebonne parishes getting less than $400,000.
