Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Senator Mary Landrieu took a tour of the levees right here in the Capital City.
She was joined on the tour by Mayor-President Kip Holden.
She says the levees are holding up well for the most part, but says there are areas of concern. "It’s a system that is not complete and in some places needs to be reinforced and we’re standing in one place right now,” stated Landrieu.
She went on to say the $13 billion invested by the state in flood protection measures has resulted in Louisiana protecting itself from more than $370 billion in flood damage.
She also stated that she believes local officials throughout the state have done a great job in getting people prepared for the flood.
