Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — People along the Mississippi River are being told to use caution in the weeks ahead as the Mississippi River crests to what officials predict to be record levels.
Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain says farmers should take steps to protect crops and move livestock to higher ground.
People are being told to monitor river forecasts and be prepared to take alternate routes due to flooded roadways.
