Debris and high water causes ferry to stop service

POINTE COUPEE PARISH (NBC33) — The Mississippi River reaches 53 feet in Pointe Coupee parish, forcing the ferry between New Roads and St. Francisville to close.
You can see huge trees limbs floating down the river near that landing today.
The ramp to that ferry pass is just inches from the river's edge now, and the combination of dangerous debris and rising water has halted ferry service there for good.
