A Walmart manager went on a wild ride in Cape Canaveral after chasing suspected beer thieves and jumping in the back of their truck Monday.

The manager, Mike Dawson, said the thieves stole 12 cases of Budweiser and Bud Light from the store.

Dawson caught them and jumped in the back of the truck for 15 miles, throwing beer out of the truck to try to get the attention of other drivers.

Dawson said the truck stopped three times during the wild ride, but the first two times he didn't want to get out.

"One time they tried to beat me up, and I fought with them and lost my glasses. The second time was like in the back woods somewhere, and I'm like, 'I'm not getting out for you to run me over,'" he said.

Dawson said the two suspects, a white man and white woman, were driving a smaller blue Nissan or Toyota truck.

Dave Stewart was on his way to the shooting range when he said he heard pleas for help.

"That's when I heard, 'Stop. Stop. He's attacking us,'" said Stewart.

Stewart said it was all a charade put on by the couple.

Dawson finally got the attention of Stewart, who pulled a gun on the thieves.

"He had a beer in his hand and I thought that he was probably drunk," Stewart said.

The alleged beer thieves stopped and let Dawson out at Pine Street and Citrus Boulevard.

"I did not know how I was going to get out of the back of that truck. I really didn't. I'm just very, very blessed," Dawson said.

The suspects escaped.
