An Albany man is now dead after threatening police with a gun, who tried to stop him from comitting suicide.

Livingston Sheriff Jason Ard says a Freddie W. LeBlanc, 48,  was trying to commit suicide at a home in the 3100 block of Old Baton Rouge Highway, around 3:00 p.m. on August 27, 2014.

Deputies told LeBlanc to put his gun down several times, according to Ard.

But LeBlancallegedly pointed his gun at responding deputies.

Sheriff Ard says LeBlanc was shot because he was an “imminent threat.”

The Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene.

Louisiana State Police are assisting the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office with an ongoing investigation into the case.

less tax payer money if they don't show up and it achieves the same result - wtf happened to protect and serve? didn't we used to call mental health professionals in to handle situations like these? i'd like to know - which officers were involved in this suicide/murder?
