BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) - Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen says the man who was killed Friday while fighting a police officer was shot five times.

Officer Kary Szyska shot 42-year-old Scott Gray of Bossier City,
twice in the side. As Gray continued to fight police Sgt. Todd Hylbert, Szyska shot Gray three more times, Halphen said during a news conference.

No charge has been brought against either officer. Bossier District Attorney Schuyler Marvin told The Times newspaper that he anticipates taking the case before a grand jury but had not decided whether he will make any recommendation on whether criminal charges are warranted.

Gray had been stopped because he fit the description of someone who had attacked an elderly person earlier Friday.
