LSU 'Southern Review' editor dies in I-10 crash

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: The driver of the fatal accident in Ramah has been identified at Jeanne Leiby, 46, of Baton Rouge. Leiby served as the Editor of The Southern Review at LSU and is the recipient of several awards for her work as a teacher and poet.

Leiby was attempting to merge from the right to the left lane on I-10 near Ramah when she overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle.
 

ORIGINAL STORY: I-10 is back open tonight after one vehicle crash shuts it down for several hours today. In that crash at the Ramah exit a Baton Rouge woman dies.

Louisiana State Police tell us the woman lost control of her vehicle and hit a barricade in the west bound lane.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. She was taken to Baton Rouge General in Mid City where she later died as a result of her injuries.

Police have not yet released the name of the woman.
