On Friday, August 29, 2014, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office - in conjunction with several other local law enforcement agencies - will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Livingston Parish.

The checkpoint is in an effort to protect our citizens from those who choose to drink and drive during the Labor Day Holiday.

Specifics will not be released in advance.

Grant monies, made available through a federal grant administered by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, will fund overtime pay for the officers involved.

Motorists are urged to drive carefully and comply with all Louisiana Traffic regulations.

why no details? why must policing be so secretive? we need more accountability from our police departments yet we get less and less every year with more militarization in it's place. Livingston Parish feels more and more like pre-WW2 Nazi-Germany. And who makes all the money off this? The private owners of our prisons of course. Then they in turn donate hundreds of thousands to political campaigns of the local judges and police chiefs. #WakeUpAmerica
