BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) Our sister stations FOX44 and CW21 investigate one of Baton Rouge’s oldest buildings: The Spanish Moon. Just blocks from the Mississippi River, the downtown-area nightclub was used as a morgue during one of the worst periods of flooding in American history. Our team of paranormal investigators explores the building on the night of a total lunar eclipse.

Don't miss the season premiere of Louisiana's Haunted History Friday, January 21st at 9:30p on FOX44 brought to you commercial free Gerry Lane Enterprises.

(cont. from below). Beer taps turned on and off, ashtrays flew off the bar, and well-secured art was knocked off the wall. Three people I know of besides myself saw an apparition during those years -- a young man in a white sleeveless undershirt and khaki work pants, with a 1950s ducktail haircut. He was seen peeking out from behind a post or looking down from the banister above the dance floor, and once he was seen in the downstairs ladies' room mirror. Shadow figures have also been seen.

(continued from below). Before it became a bar, it was also a thrift store with some sort of night shelter for homeless people (who were unkindly called "winos" at that time). Previous to that, it had served many other uses, including a temporary morgue for a flood and also during the 1918 flu epidemic. One old reference suggests it was a feed store for awhile as well. During the years we owned it we experienced the same phenomena reported in the video, as well as flying glassware. (more...)

My name is Dez Crawford. My husband and I, David N. Crawford, own the building. We renovated it into its current configuration in the late 1990s. Before that, only the downstairs was open to the public. The upstairs had been used as storage for decades. Before we bought the building, the downstair bar was called the Art Bar in the 1980s and early 1990s, and in the 70s and early '80s it was a tavern called Cypress Hollow. There were already haunting rumours at that time (to be continued).

how can u find this to watch on the internet?

C02( CONT) NO ONE WAS THERE. I AM NOT WRITTING THIS TO GET NOTICED. BUT ONLY TO LET YOU KNOW THAT YES, THERE IS SOMETHING AT THIS LOCATION . B/C AS I SAID, THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND. ONCE I NOTICED THAT THE MANAGER WAS NOT THERE, I CALLED UP STAIRS; WHERE HE WAS AT. AND I, ASKED HIM IF HE HAD CALLED FOR ME; AND HE ANSWERED NO. SO I BRUSHED IT OFF .. AND REMEMBER, THIS WAS BEFORE I HEARED THAT THERE WAS EVER ANY HISTORY HERE.SOMTIMES I FEEL MY SKIN CRAWL, WHEN I AM INSIDE BY MYSELF........

I AM ONE OF THE VENDORS, OF THE SPANISH MOON ;AND I CAN TELL YOU. THAT AT TIMES, WHEN I AM MAKING A DELIVERY. AND THE ONLY PEOPLE, THAT ARE IN THE BUILDING IS ME; AND THE MANAGER. AND HE IS NOT AROUND I DO INDEED HEAR SOME STRANGE NOISES FROM TIME TO TIME, THAT SOUND LIKE CHAINS;AND WISPERS. I WAS MAKING A DELIVERY, THEIR ABOUT; I WOULD SAY 2-3 MONTHS AGO, IN THE EVENING, AND I THOUGHT THAT I HEARD SOMEONE ASK ME A QUESTION, SO I TURNED AROUND TO SEE WHO WAS THERE;AND WHAT THEY WANTED BUT NO .
