Tuesday, around lunch time and just before the down pour in the Lafayette area, a group of about 15 volunteers, including two on bag pipes, took to the corner of heavily trafficed Bertrand and West Congress to protest abortion. The purpose of this demonstration they said was to gain more awareness to the dangers of abortion.

The group is called the Society of Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property, or TFP for short. We caught up with one of the Youth Outreach coordinators, Cesar Franco, who says their goal is to defend the family and the institution of family.

"The TFP, we have been for over 40 years now fighting in defense of the family because a society that destroys the family or allows it to be attacked, that is a society that doesn't have a future. We are very concerned with the future of our country so thats why we want to defend the family and the institution of family." said Youth Outreach Coordinator Ceasr Franco.

"In this case we want to fight against abortion. We want to protect our country from the danger of abortion which is destroying our next generation."

The American TFP Society was established in 1973 and plans on touring more parts of the state before the group head to Texas. For more information on what the TFP is all about or where ether will be heading to in the future you can visit TFP.org or call the local Lafayette office at 337-232-1131.
