Money for tourism is facing the chopping block, and Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne isn't happy about it.

The current budget plan denies $13 million dollars to two funds within the industry.

The governor wants to use that money to pay for events such as Bowl games, the Essence Festival, and next year's NCAA Final Four.

Dardenne says it’s important to fund those events, but not at the expense of the marketing campaigns aimed at bringing back tourists who were scared off by the BP oil spill.

Jindal's budget adviser, Paul Rainwater, says a reworking of the tourism budget would force cuts to health services and public colleges.
