BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — U.S. Senator David Vitter was in Baton Rouge today to talk to small business owners as a part of Small Business Day at the State Capitol.
The goal is to connect Louisiana business owners with local elected officials.
Vitter said it's important to relay to business leaders how what happens in Washington can affect people right here in Louisiana. He also said that one of the biggest issues for growing small business in the state is opening up opportunities in the energy sector.
"If we open up access to our own resources in the U.S.,” he said. “Well over 90 percent of which is off limits we can grow great jobs here. And those jobs that can’t be outsourced by definition and that would help the country that would certainly help Louisiana."
The event was hosted by the Louisiana Office of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, the Louisiana Retailers Association, the Louisiana Oil Marketers and Convenience Store Association, as well as the Louisiana Economic Development.
