Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
For the third year in a row, state representative John Labruzzo has proposed a requirement for 20 percent of welfare recipients to be drug tested.
If participants test positive, they would be offered free treatment to keep their benefits.
Labruzzo says the cost would be under $100,000.
Opponents say people who receive welfare already have to pass a drug test, but Labruzzo disagrees with that statement.
