Proposed bill focuses on internet impersonation
BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — It soon could be illegal in Louisiana to impersonate someone on the Internet.
Anyone caught sending harmful messages on sites like Facebook using another person's name could face jail time according to Louisiana House Bill 96. It would also be against the law to open up an email account under someone else's name.
The bill was written by Democrat Helena Moreno of New Orleans. The legislative session starts next month.
