Painter takes legal action against inspector general
Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
Former Alcohol and Tobacco Commissioner Murphy Painter is suing the state inspector general.
A 43-page report released last year, which was authorized by the state inspector general, accused Painter of running unauthorized background checks on more than 1,100 people.
Painter says that report ruined his reputation.
He was fired by Governor Jindal's office back in August of 2010; now, he wants his job back.
The inspector general, however, says he stands by his report.
