BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Today, NBC33 begins our look at the candidates in all the big statewide races in Decision 2011, starting with Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who’s running for lieutenant governor.
Nungesser wants to transfer the experience and passion of being parish president to the lieutenant governor's office.
He says Louisiana could do a better job of promoting the state, and should get the money to do so.
His opponent, the current lieutenant governor Jay Dardenne, launched the “Louisiana: Pick Your Passion” campaign several months ago, but Nungesser says he could do better.
“We get the people that love, breathe, eat, and drink tourism in this state, we bring them to the table, and we come up with the best day to promote and sell our state,” stated Nungesser. “Nobody’s going to work harder than me; you've seen that through four hurricanes and the oil spill.”
NBC33 conducted interviews with both candidates. Click here to see why his opposition, current Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne, says he’s the right man for the job.
You’ll have your chance to vote on who you think should be the Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana on Saturday, October 22. Check back to NBC33tv.com on election day for up to the minute coverage.
