Medicaid expansion will rule the debate at the Capitol Wednesday. Committee members from both the Senate and the House Health and Welfare committees are scheduled to start hearing testimony both for and against Medicaid expansion. Governor Bobby Jindal has already told members of the media that he will oppose Medicaid expansion.

Teachers also plan to start flooding the Capitol Wednesday in support of bills that would delay the start of the Teacher accountability law put into place as a result of legislation from last year’s session. Many believe it is not an accurate way to weigh a teacher’s performance level. There are several other education bills in the House committee that promise to draw large crowds and prompt discussion.

Lawmakers will also take a look at a bill that require that homeowners be informed of how close their property may be to a salt dome or cavern, fall out from the on-going situation for residents at Bayou Corne.
