BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Many in the state head back to the polls tomorrow for Decision 2012. At issue are lots of local measures and runoffs.
The one that's gotten the most attention locally is the CATs property tax proposal. The almost $11 million tax would bring in almost $18 million to the struggling transit system. Officials say the money would bring in new busses, new routes, and dramatically reduce the wait time.
Right now it takes an average of 75 minutes to get on a cats bus.
Opponents of the proposal say a property tax that not everyone is required to pay isn't the way to pay for the system.
