The race for East Baton Rouge Mayor-President is up to five candidates now.

Today, NBC33 introduces you to John Conroy.

Conroy is owner of the PESTOP Do-It-Yourself Pest Control, and self-described fiscal conservative.

He says fighting crime is at the top of his agenda.

“Until you are willing to take your efforts into the community with your officers and give them an opportunity to develop consistent relationships with these citizens, you're never going to have the trust (with the community),” said Conroy.

Conroy filed to run back in March.

He says he's being proactive; he met with District Attorney Hillar Moore this morning.

Here's a look at all the candidates who've entered the race for Mayor-President of East Baton Rouge Parish so far:

- Incumbent Mayor-President Kip Holden
- Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Walker
- Jim Mayer of Mayer Clothiers
- Gordon Mese, owner of Garden District Nursery

The election is November 6; candidates still have several months to qualify.
