The top two contenders for Livingston Parish President will have to square off for a second time next month.

The race was so close on Saturday that incumbent Mike Grimmer and Layton Ricks willl have a run-off election on November 19.

Grimmer brought in 45 percent of the vote on Saturday, while Ricks brought in 40 percent.

Both men say that they're surprised by the outcome of that race.

"It's still going to be professional, but now we're going to put the facts out,” said Grimmer. “We're not going to sling mud against the wall like they've done. We're going to give them the facts."

"We've heard him make the comment that the gloves are off, and that's something he'll have to deal with his supporters,” stated Ricks. “I'm not going there. We've run a positive campaign up to this point and we're going to continue to do that."

You call it running a clean campaign when someone works in your office at Alvin Fairburn and Associates, drives their truck around with a guy peeing and it says Piss on Grimmer? You call it a clean campaign when you have presented lies to the public, via TV and mailouts. No sir, you have NOT ran a clean campaign.
