BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — Louisiana's Office of Group Benefits, the agency that gets insurance for state workers and retirees, is losing 17 million dollars a month, according to information released Monday by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor.
The audit says if OGB doesn't make changes, it'll go broke by April of 2015.
Over the past three years, the office 'lost' about 200-million dollars. The agency blames higher health care costs.
OGB says it's put together a plan that'll increase state employees monthly premiums by five-percent. The increase goes into effect in July.
They've also made some changes to plans that are going to cut down on claims over the next year.
