Jindal expected to sign controversial abortion bill
CNN — Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is expected to sign an abortion bill that critics say will greatly restrict women's access to the procedure.
The Louisiana Legislature passed the measure on Wednesday.
It requires doctors to perform abortions within 30 miles of a hospital where they have admitting privileges. Supporters say the measure will ensure women get consistent, high-quality care.
Critics argue it may eliminate women's access to abortions in some parts of the state.
According to the Times-Picayune, some abortion clinic providers have said they don't think they would be able to comply with the bill's requirements.
Planned Parenthood is petitioning Jindal to veto the bill.
