Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — In his opening speech, Governor Bobby Jindal didn't specifically focus on how the state can eliminate the budget deficit, but he did promise there would be no tax increases under his watch.
Jindal said he would veto any bill that reaches his desk that attempts to increase taxes.
Some of the achievements he highlighted in his speech were the influx of employers and therefore jobs he has helped bring to the state.
He also promised no cuts to higher education, but did not specify whether or not there were more tuition hikes planned for Louisiana's universities.
Throughout the speech he continually focused on why he believes raising taxes would hurt the state.
