Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — A partial hiring freeze has been issued by Governor Bobby Jindal.
The freeze affects executive branch agencies of the state government and lasts the entire fiscal year, which started at the beginning of July.
If any agency wants to hire new workers, they must first get it approved by Commissioner of Administration Paul Rainwater, who acts as Jindal’s budget chief.
Governor Jindal has done this in previous years. This year, he is attempting to save the state $13 million.
