BATON ROUGE, LA — During the Governor's Inauguration, as well as during the Christmas season, Governor Bobby Jindal and First Lady Supriya Jindal asked guests to bring canned goods for donation to Louisiana's food banks. As a result, due to the generosity of people from across Louisiana, over 1,000 pounds of food were collected and donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
“Thank you to all of the folks across Louisiana who responded to our request for donations to Louisiana's food banks," First Lady Supriya Jindal, said. "Not only do our food banks work tirelessly to respond in times of emergency such as post-hurricanes, but they serve our communities all year round. Bobby and I encourage anyone who can, to donate time, funding or non-perishable goods to our food banks."
“We truly appreciate First Lady Supriya Jindal’s efforts to keep the issue of hunger in Louisiana in the forefront through the food drives hosted in conjunction with the Inauguration and the Holiday season," said Mike Manning, President and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. "This is another example of her concern for Louisiana’s children, especially those that face the uncertainty of not knowing from where they will get their next meal.”
