BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — In Baton Rouge voters in one district will be saying yes or no to a fee to make their streets safer this election day.
It's happening in the Park Forest East section of Baton Rouge.
The $70 fee would go toward more patrols; as well, as other neighborhood projects.
People we talked with say they're mixed on the proposal.
"My reaction to the taxes is that in my area," said Doris Noil Wetherspoon, Baton Rouge resident, "We have a good area here, and we don't have a lot of crime in this area. So, I don't think the taxes should be."
Mike Cage, Baton Rouge resident, said, "It's a bad idea because it's just an excuse to get more money out of us hard working individuals who are just trying to keep our houses."
According to reports the fee would start next year and bring in almost $30,000.
