The deficit in this year's budget is causing one Louisiana coalition to question the current plan for cuts.

Better Choices for a Better Louisiana is a group of about 40 members who say the current plans to cut from health care and education aren't necessary.

The group is saying lawmakers should instead look at the over 400 tax exemptions that take roughly $7.1 billion from the budget.

They also suggest increases in sin taxes and collections from corporations as alternatives to slashing education and health care budgets.
