BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Clergy members are converging on the State Capitol once again.
Even though the Governor Jindal's tax plan is dead, faith leaders say there's still work to do.
They say they're still keeping an eye on tax reform and opposing any income tax repeal coupled with higher sales tax.
Clergy members are still calling for lawmakers to pass Medicaid expansion.
"He still expects some tax reform to take place, and we're not necessarily opposed to that, we just want to make sure that the reform does not shoulder the backs of the poor and middle class,” stated clergy member Charles Andrus.
This group of faith leaders has been meeting with legislators since the Governor introduced his tax plan before the session's start.
