Louisiana is 2nd most expensive state to own a car
(NBC33) — Louisiana is the second most expensive state to own a car, and our drivers are paying more than almost anyone else, just for the luxury!
That's the result of bank-rate's 2014, "car cost study." Louisiana took the second to last spot on the list of owning a vehicle-- right behind Wyoming.
Bankrate analyzed the cost of gas, repair costs, and insurance rates in all 50 states! The national average cost of all three is about $2,200 a year.
But in Louisiana, drivers spend about $2,500. That includes the $350 we spend to fix our cars when things go wrong, over $1,200 for insurance coverage, and over $900 for gas!
The cheapest region to own a car? The Midwest. Drivers in Iowa, Ohio, and Illinois spend less than two thousand dollars a year.
