Last week I was impressed with the Social Media Vote that my peers turned out!! I thought for sure that I would come in possibly first or even second place, not fourth. This next vote I will fight fire with fire!! My trainer Justin is working me hard, one day last week I texted him that my thighs were on fire!! Then it moved to my calves by week-end!! I have already noticed that I have lost weight. Looking forward to what's next!

Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll. Whether you voted for me or someone
else, to see that much support fr all the contestants was great! Congrats to Miya
for taking the win this time around. Fitness test went better than I expected
it to go for me. I surprised myself with how many crunches & push-ups I was able
to do. It can only get better from here right? I hope so! Heading back to the
gym today for another workout.

Thus far I have learned to take one day at a time. Exercising each day becomes easier with each passing day. I have learned the key capitalizing on exercises that are your strength and working hard to bring other exercises up to that level. I have purposely been trying out exercises, classes, etc. that are out of my comfort zone. You never know what you like until you try. I found group exercise that I like and can do surprisingly.

Kris Cusanza with the red team writes:

I was really impressed with how well the contestants did in the fitness test. I really appreciated their support with filming. I can't believe we are almost to the first weigh in. Contestants are working out so hard it's making it tough to figure out who will have lost the most weight. I'm working on ways to freshen up my diet so that I don't always eat the same meals. I really like chicken and fish with peas. Now I just have to come up with new ways to cook the chicken and fish. On another note I am starting to see the results as I can now fit back into some of my smaller skirts.

Michelle Lewis with the purple team writes:

I will try to make this blog as short and sweet as possible, but I have so many things to say! First and Foremost, we underwent a fitness test and I was shocked at how many push-ups I could do in a minute. Never in my life did I think I was capable of doing five push-ups, now I'm doing twenty. I also observed the other contestants interact with their personal trainers. What amazed me the most is how well we get along with our trainers! It's almost as if we are all working with the people who are most compatible with our personalities. That's an awesome quality because it's makes "training days" less stressful.

On a serious note, I would like to take the time to discuss something that has been on my mind since I started "Losing it in Louisiana". Before I began my fitness/healthy lifestyle journey I was always reluctant to do so because of my hair.

In an era where a lot of Black American females where relaxed hair and weaves, this is a common problem. There was a time in my life that I didn't want to work-out because I had a new weave. I was basically accepting being overweight to protect my hair, but overlook what matters the most: my health. However, thanks to my sister, Brittany, who's a dancer, I now know techniques to utilize that will protect my hair while working out. I simply wrap my hair, place a scarf over it, and put on a cap. This works wonders! So ladies, please do not let your hair be an excuse for a lack of exercise and the negligence of taking care of your body. When you think about it, it's pretty stupid!

Jermarr Williams with the yellow team writes:

This week was an awesome week. I had the opportunity of training with my trainer over the weekend. The workout was awesome. This truly turning me around as a whole. Even though I slipped last week (in my eating habits), I was able to maintain good workouts.
