Losing it in LA

Here is a look at how James Newman and the orange team did this week.

The workouts are getting tougher,” said Newman, “But that's only because Joey (my trainer) is adding more weight, reps, and sets to burn more calories. I know that if you don't increase the intensity of the workouts, the wanted results won't come about. It was also a little hard on the food this week as it was my oldest son's birthday and he wanted to go to Cheeburger Cheeburger to celebrate. Don't think I did too bad though.”

Rebekah Worrell, with the pink team, said she’s brought her workouts everywhere including doing pushups at work!

“This past week of working out was by far the best I've had,” said Worrell. “I find myself more motivated and really enjoying working out. I think the hardest thing I've had to deal with is drinking less Coke and Dr. Pepper.”

Green team member, James Henry, said, “The fitness test on Saturday was brutal! Whoever created the burpee (aka squat thrust, aka mule kick, aka proof the devil exists) is an inherently evil person and should be locked away somewhere devoid of joy! Everyone worked really hard and did a great job, though. Last week, Erik suggested that I get a deep tissue massage to help loosen my muscles after two solid weeks of workouts. It turns out this was just a way for someone else to inflict pain on me on his behalf. Had this been an NBA game, I’m pretty sure her use of elbows would have bordered on being a flagrant 2 and would have led to ejections and fines. Begrudgingly, I will admit that I feel great today. The massage really helped, and I'm looking forward to another week of workouts.”

Blue team member Carole Walker said after three weeks she’s really getting in to the program.

“Losing It In Louisiana has been a great program for me personally in the battle with weight loss,” said Walker. “Exercising in public or with a group of people used to be something I would rarely do, if at all. Because, I was ashamed to allow others see me thinking that they would make fun of me. The support from the other contestants, my personal trainer Greg and the Bally Total Fitness staff and other members has been awesome and such a great benefit in regards to being motivated to lose the weight.”

Yellow team member Anita Katzman wrote: “We had our first fitness test, and I've learned when it comes to speed walking, I am fit! We did a chest press and I vaguely remember someone with their hand up to high five me. I walked right past them completely out of it. But, as I said before, you can't weigh 219 pounds and get to a healthy weight without some pain involved. I can already tell my body is changing, though and I know I can reach my goal!”

This week for Kris Cusanza with the red team could be summed up in one word: sore! My colleagues have even begun making fun of the way I walk after having a session with Carlos. Carlos tells me one of my biggest problems is my inability to walk in a straight line and to keep my feet straight in front of my legs. I have danced all my life, and apparently turnout is not an acceptable workout position. The red team is working hard to lose our goal of 15lbs this month. We are close! On the advice of James Henry and Eric, my fiancé and I tried to watch ‘Food, Inc.’ I’m sorry guys, I could only make it twenty minutes into the film before feeling queasy.
