I find myself uttering more and more of the cliches that you hear from weight loss gurus, the ones that I used to (and kind of still do) find to be very annoying. This week it was in response to the question, "How's the diet going?" My automatic response was "I'm not looking at it as a diet, but more of a lifestyle change." I know, right. But it's true - I have realized that there are a lot of healthy options that I enjoy as much or more than the unhealthy ones. That's why I don't feel like I am on a diet. I am choosing to eat to live, not live to eat. And yes, that's another one of those cliches! Someone please stop me!

This past week was awesome! One of the things I have been working so hard for finally came. I was a bridesmaid in my friends wedding and the dress looked amazing on me. Yay!!! It was a great night and it felt very good to accomplish one of my goals!

Over this last week, I went to my doctor for a routine check up. It was just after my last visit, in October, to the doctor that I decided that I have to get very serious about getting healthier. Since then I have lost a total of 35 lbs., 12 of that has been in the last two months with Losing It In Louisiana. This has given me a big boost of confidence that I can meet my fitness goals and have a much healthier life.

I had a milestone moment this past week and it gave me such gratitude about being a part of Losing It In Louisiana. I traveled with LSU's softball team to Kentucky for a game and we took a chartered flight. Flying on any plane has always been a little uneasy for me because I worry about if I'll have to sit next to someone and intrude on their space because of my size. Also, I always had to build up my nerves to ask the stewardess for a seat belt extension which I usually did in a slight whisper. With that being said, traveling on small planes have always the worst for me. Well not anymore! I was able to sit comfortably in my seat and didn't have to ask for a seat belt extension and even had some wiggle room to adjust the strap a little tighter. For some people it may not be a big deal, but for me it was a milestone and it felt amazing. I even posted a picture on facebook because I just needed to share the moment with my friends and family.

I had a dr. appointment this week and my blood work came back with great numbers. It was an awesome feeling to see a huge drop in my triglycerides from 263 to 125! My cholesterol went from 210 to 181. I'm doing this for my health, and to see the numbers come down was an extra motivator for me. It's more incentive to stay with it, get my heart rate up everyday and eat as well as I can. This is still the hardest area for me eating healthy. I miss dips and need to find more healthy dip recipes. After seeing my triglycerides cut to less than half though, it's worth it!

This week was really hard because my schedule at work changed. I know like it seems like a minor thing, but it threw off my workout and eating schedule. It was so hard not to go one little soft drink or fast food meal won't hurt. If it wasn't for my fiance Adam Rutka and my best friend Emily Turner I would have gone off the diet deep end. I had to avoid going in the kitchen, and I avoided going down the hallway where the vending machine is at work. Now i just have to refocus and get back into the swing of dieting.
