More than 100 academic programs will be cut at Louisiana's public colleges and universities, including the foreign language department at Southern University.

The Board of Regents says it’s because those programs don't have enough graduates.

The board also agreed to consolidate more than 190 other programs.

Education officials say students enrolled in those affected will be able to finish their degrees before they're scrapped.
