Local teacher wins $25,000

BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA) -- A teacher from East Baton Rouge Parish is one of two Louisiana educators honored with a prestigious award for their efforts in and out of the classroom.

Laura Hill has won the 2010 Milken Educator Award for Louisiana for her work as a fourth grade teacher. This honor comes with a $25 thousand cash prize.

Hill joined Tammi Arender yesterday, Monday, Nov. 1, in the NBC33 News Studio to talk about her feelings toward winning the honor. Just hours before she was presented the award during a surprise ceremony, which was held at her school, Cedarcrest Southmoor Elementary.
